Native Perennial Garden at the Hillsdale Library

The Kids for Earth garden outside the Hillsdale Library is now a showy native perennial garden, situated in the shade along the Pascack Brook. The naturalistic design of the garden provides color and  texture year-round. Stop by and learn about native plants of the region, and see the matrix planting of perennial species that are unpalatable to deer yet provide a great many ecological benefits, such as butterfly habitat. Funding for the specimens was provided by the Hillsdale Free Public Library Foundation. The plant pictured is Lobelia siphilitica (Great Blue Lobelia).
